Can I ask you a question? What is most scary about a World Without Truth? [To be pondered whilst listening to "Scary Monsters (and Supercreeps)" by David Bowie] I just got back from Gartner’s wonderful Dubai CIO and IT Executive event. My two main topics were Artificial General Intelligence and a World Without Truth. Two topics that often create very strong opinions from clients and colleagues alike. A world without truth, filled with disinformation and deepfakes, is pretty scary. Compared to propaganda merchants in history, modern day disinformers are armed with four technical, digital, and behavioural benefits. 1. The ability to reach billions quickly and cheaply 2. The ability to construct hyper-convincing deep fakes 3. The ability to use pschographic/ firmographic data to mass customize disinformation campaigns 4.
