New Gartner Research: “Every Enterprise Needs a Trust Council to Combat the Deluge of AI Disinformation”
[To be read whilst listening to “Fake Plastic Trees” by Radiohead]
Since publishing the book “World Without Truth” in September 2025 with our wonderful alumnus Richard Hunter and amazing input from our colleague Leigh McMullen, Andrew Frank and I have been presenting, discussing, advising and learning about the terrifying and fascinating world of mis-, dis- and mal-information, and some of the exciting ways companies, governments and individuals can fight against it.
The attached picture was drawn in real time by a wonderful cartoonist during my presentation ten days ago at Gartner’s Product Leadership Conference in Texas. [This was my first time in 23 years presenting on a big stage in casual clothes, since the middle east-related rerouting caused my luggage to get left in Taipei.]
Andrew, our great colleague Apeksha Kaushik and I have just published a research note exhorting and encouraging all companies and government agencies to establish a Trust Council, a multidisciplinary governance body that makes decisions and monitors all things related to disinformation in the organization.
For Gartner clients, there is a link to the note in the first comment below.
Has your organization got a Trust Council yet? If not, maybe it’s time to act.
